XGL working ATI

The opensuse page explains that there are major issues with the proprietary ATI drivers but I got XGL working on my Ferrari 3200 (AMD64) machine with SUSE 10.0 (x86_64).

Card ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
Driver: fglrx version 8.19 (proprietary Ati driver)

Had it working before, but it was S L O W.

What I did this time.
Followed the howto on opensuse.org/xgl.

There are issues with the latest ATI drivers so I decided to use an older driver:
(download from the ATI site version 8.19)

In the normal procedure you build a rpm from the ati-driver, you don't use the ATI gui install.
I installed the rpm and than started the ati driver again, the GUI install. see readme

sh ./ati-driver-installer-8.19.10-x86_64.run

Hey, I'm glad to see at least one success story with this. I also appreciate the comment on my wordpress. (First one!)
