Just a few words on getting a succesfull installation done of MPLAYER.

1) Add a new YAST repository (Install Source):
server: packman.unixheads.com
directory: suse/10.1

It will take awhile but as soon as it is done you will get some errors about certificates; just accept them!

2) Goto Install Software and search for: "mplayer"
--> install it and all codecs will be installed aswell

After you have done this you would like that MPLAYER is your default player instead of Totem. You can do this by "right-clicking" on a media file (avi, wmf etc), select "properties", select "open with" and then make sure the radio button marks mplayer. You should do this for every different type of media file you want mplayer to be the default off.

Now you will be able to run all your favorite shows and movies on SLED!

Happy viewing!

Is there any chance to try SLED10 beta (or any latest version)? or it's only for testers?

No Public beta's will be posted! Only official Novell Partners will be able to download it through their portal!

Thanks for the tip! :) Works nicely, although I've been using gxine with the same results

When i try to add the repository all i get is this error:

Your service was added successfully in YaST, but could not be synchronized with ZenWorks.:
ERROR: Could not add 'ftp://packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.1': Failed to parse XML metadata: Unsigned file '/repodata/repomd.xml (ftp://packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.1)'

What's that :S

Ignore all errors. Works for me.
I play it safe though afterwards I remove the repositry for packman.

Don't know if it hurts to leave it or not but trying to keep SLED as much pure SLED.

I was very excited to find your info. No problem adding the packman installation source, downloading or installing. When I place a dvd in my drive and attempt to access with Mplayer I get a quick flash of blue and maybe a word of sound. That's it. Any ideas? Thanks
