Evolution 2 talks native via SOAP to the GroupWise addressbook and the Calendar. Today mail is done using IMAP.
IMAP is a slow protocol (check every message, every time) and does not support the ritch feature set.
We can expect the following in Evolution 2.2
# online/offline support
# shared folders
# permission management
# delivery and read receipt status tracking
# retract and recall messages
# detached instance support
# convert mail backend to soap
