No more beeps

NLD or any other SuSE based desktop.
Go to YAST, select SYSTEM > /ETC/SYSCONFIG EDITOR, search for the word 'beep' and set all relevant settings to NO. There should be at least 2 variables.

The file /etc/rc.d/halt (shutdown script) should be edited and lines where the command 'echo -en "\033"' and 'echo -en "\a"' should be commented out.

Lastly you should make sure your terminal program profile settings has the "bell" disabled.
