Thunderbird - Hotmail & Yahoo

The Web-Mail extension creates a platform which other extensions use to integrate web based email accounts into Mozilla Thunderbird. POP is the only protocol supported, this means Thunderbird can only download emails. To send emails use your ISPs SMTP server, Thunderbird will set the Return-Path and From email headers using the web account email address, too the recipient the email will appear to have come from the web base account.

I assume you already knew about
yahoopops and freepops.
http://www.freepops.org/en/
http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/

These install themselves as a small daemon (Linux or Windows) and you configure your favorite POP reader to retrieve mail from them (usually 127.0.0.1) instead of the web. The daemons parse your wemail inbox for you. Works for over 2 years!
