I have been downloading SUSE Linux Beta 10 - 64 bit and for those who don not know - openSUSE means that SUSE Linux Professional no longer exists and SUSE Linux will be the retail version and all the betas are open. So I have downloaded the four ISO images (Yes - four, not five. Well Done People) and started to install it on a box.
The first thing I noticed was that the splash screen was blue - instead of green. Like all of the SUSE graphics, it is professionaly done and works well. When YaST2 appears (rather quickly), there is no SUSE logo at the top (is this due to it being a beta release?). There are two new prompts which I like, Time Zone and Desktop Selection. The time zone has never appeared before and is a welcome addition but the Desktop Selection gives you the option of either KDE or GNOME which is making SUSE a neutral desktop environment. The screenshots are rather small so it would be nice if when you click or hover the cursor over them, a larger image appears.
It works very smoothly and is still going on my Acer Ferrari. Stay tuned for the next episode of SUSE Install!"
