Oracle buys Sleepycat

Oracle buys Sleepycat; to sell OnTarget: "FEB. 14 12:07 P.M. ET Business software giant Oracle Corp. said it bought open source software company Sleepycat Software Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

Sleepycat makes data management software called Berkeley DB

Berkeley DB is the most widely used open source database in the world, Oracle said. Open source projects such as the Linux and BSD UNIX operating systems, Apache Web server and others embed Berkeley DB technology, the company added.
