Heh, I goota put one of those on my web page too.
Not that ATI has big issues with new video cards, but even they don't update they legacy drivers, so users of newer technologies - like xorg 7.2 are left behind.
Nvidia takes care even for really old graphics like riva tnt.

Hey Moose,

I would like to help you on your campaign. But I just got an Nvidia laptop. So I am to busy messing around with my sweet Beryl hookup.

But seriously I used to love ATI but the linux thing has really put me off :(. I don't think I'll ever buy ATI graphics cards again. The weirdest thing is is that I totally prefer AMD over Intel, so what is this world coming too? lol.

ATI has seriously made some grounds from just a few years back. They now have regular updates, and address issues within the community.

They are still nowhere close to nVidia though...

Just inherited a radeon 9600 for my DVR after my old trusty nv4200ti's fan started making noise.

The driver is an amazing pile of crap. NV's driver is a one-shot install and configure, I had to futz with the command line for ATI's driver to install.

Then I ran facefirst into the tv out overlay bug. Excellent. Going to try the hacking myth source (mplayer works with YV), but looks like a trip to the store to give NVidia money instead.

Whole hartedly agree. I made the mistake of buying an ATI with TV oput to use on my mythbox and ran into the same troubles.. Spent 10hours and did get it going... however it made my myth unstable and it would crash everytime i went into mythvideo. Piece of crap! Card is nice as long as you dont do video streaming on the tv out! ATI are spastic.

For me the same applies: prefer AMD CPUs over Intel ones, but the ATI/AMD videocards really are useless with TV-Out. They need to be replaced with NVidia cards as soon as possible...
