Mediawiki plugin for Tomboy

Like to see a generic 'publish to' in Tomboy and have the ability to export my Tomboy notes to Mediawiki format.

It's on the Tomboy ideas page.

Tomboy version 0.7.4 released!

Peppie: Tomboy 0.7.4 has just been released.

Whats new in this build:
Version 0.7.4
* Improved sync configuration and other UIs.
* Support shift+delete to perform a "cut" operation (Andrew Fister).
* OpenSUSE build fix (Michael Wolf).

We couldn't resist and updated our machine. The new synchronization looks good, although we did not test it. Here is a screenshot:

For installing Tomboy (at your own risk!) use the following link: Tomboy0740 it's not in one of the Yast repositories yet.

Tomboy

Alex Graveley is the original author of Tomboy. (Ximian, Beatnik, VMWare)
Boyd Timothy, currect maintainer of the project.

So, what's next? Check out the entire Road Map for the details, but the main two things are:
  1. Note synchronization (EVERYONE wants this!)
  2. Tagging

Download NLD10

The Moose receives a lot of questions about availability of the software. We don't have it, Novell did not yet release any public beta.

BUT......

if you would like to play with XGL, Beagle, Tomboy, F-Spot, Banshee, the new Tango style desktop download and try SUSE Linux 10.1 beta. (check release schedule)

Howto XGL on SUSE Linux 10.0 and SUSE Linux 10.1

Remember:

1.) SUSE Linux 10.1 is beta

2.) The difference between NLD10 and SUSE Linux 10.1.
"Tested, supported stable corporate desktop vs a unsupported community product."
Read this article from Joe Harman. It's about NLD9 vs SUSE 9.3 but is still valid for NLD10 vs SUSE Linux 10.x.
SUSE Linux = for your home machine and test machine (not supported)
NLD = the business desktop for your users (supported and certified with hard and software)

Release and availability
The expectation is that NLD10 and SLES10 are released at the same day. With the help from our friends at Google we found the magic date.....may 2006 is the expected release.

To quickly keep a snippet of text around for later, just select
it and middle-click the Tomboy tray icon. The text is inserted
into your "Start Here" note, with a timestamp.

RedHat goes Mono

Rawhide, the next release of Fedora core (FC5) has Mono. (source)
This is fantastic news, because it will lower the bar to even more people using Beagle, F-Spot, Tomboy, and others. Hooray for Red Hat coming around at last.

Moosy loves Tomboy

Tomboy is one of the need little toys that comes with SUSE Linux 10, and we love it. (your own personal wiki)
And..Beagle is doing a good job in indexing and finding the notes.

To start Tomboy, add Tomboy notes to your GNOME panel.

I use Tomboy for meeting notes, ideas and other.
In version 0.3.3 we now can export our notes (including links) to HTML. (what's new)
Because the notes we create are business critical, we decided to move our
Tomboy datastore to our ifolder.
Howto:
1.) Move you /home/user/.tomboy directory to your ifolder directory. (/data/ifolder)

2.) create a symbolic link
ln -s /data/ifolder/.tomboy /home/moosy

or using rsync
rsync -trv /home/moosy/.tomboy/* servername:/backup/.tomboy

The Tomboy team has some cool ideas of integration
with appointments, tasks and todo item. (Evolution)
(there is a Tomboy note of the day plugin available here)

Things I like to see improved:
- Outline, bullets
- Templates (meeting note, phone call etc.)
- export plugin for OpenOffice format

Tomboy is a project from Alex Graveley,

Alex Graveley is/was a Ximian Hacker Monkey.
